Solaris 9 syslogd not always writing to disk?

Hello all,

System: SunOS sunbox 5.8 Generic_108528-13 sun4u sparc
SUNW,UltraAX-i2

I am sending logs from probably 100 or so different
machines, and
parsing them with a regexp based tool, the machine is running
at a load
of about 0.2.

Sometimes, similar but not identical lines from a
remote Solaris9 box
are sent (confirmed with snoop) but not written to disk
(confirmed with
grep).

If the application on the remote machine sends a
separate message
between them, then all the messages come over and are
written out.
Since the messages aren't the same, I wouldn't expect syslogd to
'deduplicate' them.

Has anyone seen this?
Caveats/Pointers to ensure that
syslogd writes all received data to
disk?
