- locale issues - 8859-2 UTF8 displaying polish char

Origional q below for ref -

however now when i create my text in notepad on NT - save as unicode and ftp
to solaris i expect to see polish char when cat or more the file,

i get garbage - any ideas ?

Hi All,

I require to display polish text on solaris 8 server

I installed SUNWi2of and SUNWi2rf as per

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/font-requirements.html

and

http://developers.sun.com/dev/gadc/tools/lc/lc.jsp

however when i run locale -a ( after reboot )

i still see no 8858-2

and so cannot display some polish char

out of a set of 5 char i see only 1 and i think that probably due to it being
same as one of the 8858-1 chars !

please advise !!!

this server is also used for dutch/german/english/french/italian with no
issues ( all 8858-1 i assme though
