Sun workstation console function on ttya with graphics also operational

Awhile ago, I found a way to have the full console functionality
(i.e. down
to going to the "ok" prompt, rebooting, and doing other hardware-ish
things)
on the ttya port, while at the same time, enabling the Sun keyboard,
mouse,
and graphics head for use as a "normal, non-console terminal". I
think there
is a tech note on this somewhere, and at one point, I had the whole
procedure
written out. But I seem to have since lost track of that procedure.

If any of you know what I am talking about and can send detailed
instructions
to me, I'd really appreciate it.

Had something to do with explicitly setting the input-device and
output-device
to ttya in the EEPROM, then creating a bogus symlink device pointing
at the
console, then editing Xservers or something like that.

Anyone remember how to do this?

Thanks,
KR
