I've never even thought about it before - but we've just started internationalization, and the question came up.... and I can't find an answer anywhere....
if you run a 'locale', you get a bunch of LC_*="C"
What does "C" mean?
(boy this seems like something there should be a man page about.... any information on where I can find this information is appreciated....)
