Solaris 10 rpcbind

Good afternoon,

Has anyone on the list tried to work with rpcbind disabled on a Solaris
10 system? When I look at dependencies of rpcbind it appears multi-level
milestone and inetd depend on rpcbind. I have a server where rpcbind had
been disabled by removing rwx perms for the binaries instead of using
svcadm disable ... Later when the box was rebooted, several services
failed and the system didn't appear to have fully reached multi-user
mode. Among other things, all the meta devices were in the "Needs
Maintenance" state. When I found and corrected the perms and rebooted,
everything was fine.

svcs -D svc:/network/rpc/bind:default

online 14:01:02 svc:/system/sysidtool:system
online 14:01:02 svc:/network/inetd:default
online 14:01:04 svc:/system/fmd:default
online 14:01:10 svc:/milestone/multi-user:default
online 14:05:59 svc:/network/nfs/status:default
online 14:05:59 svc:/network/nfs/nlockmgr:default
online 14:05:59 svc:/network/nfs/client:default

Thanks,
Vic Engle
