console

We have a terminal server and it seems to be causing console problems on
some of the servers. Processes which use /dev/console are very slow for
example if I su - , there is a long delay because the process wants to
report that to the console. Sometimes I can kill the ttymon process and
init respawns one and all is well but sometimes I can't seem to get the
console to work again short of a reboot.

Could anyone offer any advice as to how to recover from the hung console
while we try to correct the term server problem?

Thanks,
Vic Engle
