Dear People,
I have ran into a spot of bother when attempting to build a new NIS+ master. I
am following Chapter 15 of the book 'All about administering NIS+' written by
Rick Ramsey way back in 1993. I am up to page 229 for those of you who have a
copy ;-)
The server in question is a V440 built with Solaris 9 04/04 and EIS/Gold CD
patched up to Sept 05.
However, when I try and add a local users credentials it appears to bomb out.
i.e.
root@ss000066 : mpc# getent passwd saxons
saxons:x:62793:202::/export/home/saxons:/bin/sh
root@ss000066 : mpc# nisaddcred -p 62793 -P saxons.uk.aenergycompany.com.
local
nisaddcred: no password entry found for uid 62793
nisaddcred: unable to create credential.
Any ideas ???
Please don't send me responses asking why NIS+ . I know ldap is the way
forward - it's just I have to create a new server in a new datacenter and move
NIS+ onto it. Then once in I will be migrating off NIS+ to ldap.
