takes 1 minute to log in

Good morning,

I have a V440, solaris9, latest 9_Recomended and when I telnet to the box it
takes 1 minute (aprox) to let me in. This happened all of a sudden, the box
was hardened weeks ago and has rebooted multiple times since then with no
problems. I had telnet into the box multiple times this same day with no
problems and suddenly near the end of the day this issue arose and as far as I
know, no changes have been made on my end.

We are using a 3rd party password management package but I have since turned
it off, it is not effecting any other servers, I don't believe this is causing
the problem.
I can rlogin with no delay. I can telnet to root with no delay. I changed my
shell to sh and removed any .profile, etc modifications to the shell and still
takes 1 minute.
Top, sar, swap -l all show the server as 99.5% idle with plenty of resources
available (swap space, mem etc.)

When I telnet, everything proceeds as normal, I enter my username then
password and hit enter, I am presented with my "Last login" information and
then it just sits there for 1 min until it lets me in.

any help is greatly appreciated
thank you in advance
