Help with LDAP

Hi Gurus,

I have an unusual situation and I'm sure I've missed something
simple. I have a gaggle of Sun Servers (and they love em and aren't
going to part with them). They all have different builds (7, 8 , &
9) and configurations. They all use NIS. The powers that be have
decided to move to Open Directory. I need the Sun clients to stop
authenticating with NIS and to start authenticating with the OD
system. The Open Directory seems to play nice with everyone so far
but I haven't figured out how to get the Sun servers configured properly

I've read everything I can get my hands on but I'm missing something
basic. I've chosen Solaris 9 to work with first (figuring I can
eventually upgrade everyone if I need to). These systems, when
originally built were built to work with NIS - what do I need to do
to get them to work with LDAP? One serious problem I seem to have is
that I don't have ldap_cachemgr running and I can't seem to get it
running. I'm starting to think that I'm missing part of the program?

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I really need help from
scratch, there is a whole lot information about how to build an LDAP
server, and how to configure clients when installing the OS but not a
whole lot on initializing pre-existing server clients to ldap.

I appreciate any assistance with this.
