Problems booting from cdrom/disk with my SunFire V100 sparc server ...

Hi All,

I am attempting to install Solaris 10 on my SunFire
v100 server and I have run into a weird problem with
the server which was working fine all this while. It
is a year old now.

When I try to boot from CDROM, it gives me the
following error: "Fast Track Access MMU Miss". I have
researched this on the web and tried the various
things that have been suggested but to no avail. At
the boot prompt, typing any boot device gives me the
same error above - even "boot disk". The weird thing
is that if I boot from the lom prompt with poweron,
bootmode normal, it boots just fine. However, the
system which is currently on Solaris9, still doesnt
recognize the cdrom (says Device sd0 cannot be powered
up) for some reason. I cleaned the CDROM. Tried to
access it through cdrw -l, and it shows up as a CDROM.
But it wouldnt mount. Mounting it gives the error "No
such device or file".

There have been suggestions about external caches and
the like. So I ran the devices tests at the start. I
am giving the dump of that below. Nothing seems to be
amiss. So I am at a loss to understand what could have
happened suddenly to cause this problem. Any boot
loader issue? I am hoping (and praying!) that someone
can guide me fix this system as this is our main
mailserver! One thing that did occur when I rebooted
it the previous time was that the configuration card
had slipped out when I cleaned the system. I pushed
that back and the system did boot up and the cdrom was
working fine. But this reboot is giving me this
problem which I am unable to figure out.

Thanks much in advance for your help.
Vijay
