Multicast Config

Hi All,

I have a question on Multicast. My understanding was the multicast address will come when you setup the network for the interface. And there is nothing to manually config. But here is a guy at work saying that he has allocate more multicast address for the server. Do I need to config something for those addresses on the server or it's a client server based application, and the application itself will take care of the communcation? I searched on google but there is not doc clearly identify what needs to be configured.
