Hi,
Why does my RAID 5 disk not go into maintenance state when I remove it?
I have installed Solaris 9 9/05 and created a RAID 5 from 12 36GB disks:-
metainit d8 -r c0t1d0s2 c0t2d0s2 c0t3d0s2 c1t5d0s2 c1t6d0s2 c1t7d0s2
c3t0d0s2 c3t1d0s2 c3t2d0s2 c4t5d0s2 c4t6d0s2 c4t7d0s2
I then created a hot spare :-
metainit hsp001 c3t3d0s2
and associated it to d8:-
metaparam -h hsp001 d8
When the RAID had finished initialising I created a file system on the
RAID and mounted it on /mnt
Running metastat shows everything looks OK:-
root: metastat d8
d8: RAID
    State: Okay
    Hot spare pool: hsp001
    Interlace: 32 blocks
    Size: 782361423 blocks
Original device:
    Size: 782363296 blocks
Device Start Block Dbase State Hot Spare
        c0t1d0s2 3219 No Okay
        c0t2d0s2 3219 No Okay
        c0t3d0s2 3219 No Okay
