(Ab)use of this mailing list

You are correct. I have seen many messages which have been posted and
look like
just after the meeting with their managers. Some times the postings are
"This is the
one I want to do and can you help me in making the script. Pl come back
with your
comments and scripts if any". These can be effectively handled using
google.

Thanks.

Subject: (Ab)use of this mailing list

Hey all - I know this breaks policy but I'm at the end of my tether. I'm
a
long-time subscriber to this list and it's helped me a lot in the past;
In
return I am able to (sometimes) offer advice to others on the list. What
goes around comes around, kid, and sunmanagers is one of the very best
resources available to us as sysadmins.

Increasingly it seems the list is being used as a dumping ground for
questions which are in no way urgent and quite often are basic Solaris
101
stuff.

This must stop.

So, I beseech the rogues;

0: Engage brain.

1: Please read and fully digest http://www.sunmanagers.org/ *before*
posting to the list.

2: Exhaust your other sources; Google, Sunsolve, Forums etc.

3: Stop asking bl**dy stupid questions. This isn't Kindergarten Sysadmin
Part 1.

4: If you aren't a Solaris Sysadmin / Engineer / Sysop, get off the
list,
this isn't the place for you.

5: I apologize for the above rant, but I'm sure many will agree with my
sentiments.

cheers

Shi
