how to properly install Solaris 8 recommended patches on E10K SSPs

Hi Gurus,
 
How would I properly install Solaris 8 recommended patches on E10K SSPs while always making one SSP up so netcon to the E10K domains is still possible.
 
Example, say ssp1 is main and ssp2 is spare. I would like to install the patches on ssp2 first and keep ssp1 up and running. Then after installing patches on ssp2 and rebooted it, what are the next steps to make ssp2 main so I can install the patches on ssp1.
