All,
How do I get my Solaris 8 server to "see" what is attached on the
switch?
I've read the Procedure Manual (350 pages) for the Brocade 3250 as well
as the QLogic Manuals but so far I have not found any good documentation
that deals with the integration between the HBA and the Brocade switch.
I have 1 LTO2 tape drive on a 3250 Brocade switch, I have a lot more
actually, but I want to start out simple, with 1 attached device.
Also, in my cfgadm -al it shows the device that is attached to the
switch as failing...
c3 fc-private connected configured
unknown
c3::500104f00052cf22 tape connected configured
unknown
c4 fc-private connected configured
unknown
c4::500104f00052cf25 tape connected configured
unknown
c5 fc-fabric connected configured
unknown
c5::500104f00052cf1c unavailable connected configured
failing
c5::500104f00052cf1f unavailable connected configured
failing
c6 fc connected unconfigured
unknown
Note: c5 is the card/port(s) that is/are connected to the switch.

Here is the switch information:

I have setup a zone for this tape drive:
s3250:admin> zoneshow
Defined configuration:
cfg: myconfig001
zone1
zone: zone1 3,21; 3,50
zone: zone2 50:01:04:f0:00:52:cf:04
zone: zone3 50:01:04:f0:00:52:cf:03
Effective configuration:
cfg: myconfig001
zone: zone1 3,21
3,50
Here is my current qlc.conf:
# cat qlc.conf | grep -v ^# | grep . | sort
hba0-adapter-hard-loop-ID=0;
hba0-enable-adapter-hard-loop-ID=0;
# pkginfo -i | grep qlc

Yes, I know I have two dual-port cards; I am only using the first one at
the moment.
I've noticed there are actual QLOGIC HBA drivers, I have installed them
in the past but either I did not configure them properly, or something--
as I did not notice any effect with the drivers installed or not
installed.
The drivers being:
Solaris.QLogic.HBA.Fiber.Drivers$ ls
Troubleshooting\ For\ The\ QLogic\ 2342\ HBAs.pdf
qla2300-readme.txt
qla2300.sparc_pkg.Z
sansurfer2.0.30b23-1_solaris_install.bin
scli.1.06.16-15.SPARC-X86.Solaris.pkg.Z
Anyone have any clues?
Thanks,
Justin.
