Sun hardware or Fujitsu hardware

Good day,

My company runs an Oracle database on a Sun Fire V880 machine;
the machine currently has 6 x 1.2GHz CPUs, 48GB RAM and is
using a pair of T3 arrays for storage.

We expect the load to grow beyond the possibilities of a fully-
populated with CPUs V880 machine, so I am looking for a bigger
SPARC-based machine which will run Solaris and Oracle.

I have to estimate whether we can obtain Fujitsu hardware
instead of Sun hardware, namely to (try to) compare a
Fujitsu Primepower 850 with an Eternus 3000 Model 80 array
for storage versus a Sun E2900 server with a StorEdge 3510 array.

Sun:

I would appreciate any comments or thoughts on this matter; here is
what I have found so far as for's and against's (please also correct me
if I'm wrong somewhere in the list):

Sun E2900 + StorEdge 3510:
For:
- "true" Sun hardware, no quirks expected during the migration;
- chip multithreading on CPUs;
- can mix CPU boards/speeds (possibly buy faster processors later)
- 16MB cache on CPUs (as opposed to max. 3MB on Fujitsu CPUs);
- presumably higher fault tolerance within the machine;
Against:
- presumably higher price;
- FC switch(es) required for HA storage configuration;
- "only" 12 CPUs supported (as opposed to 16 in Fujitsu PP 850)
- (don't know if it's true) can't expand number of 66MHz PCI slots

Fujitsu PP 850 + Eternus 3000 model 80:
For:
- SPARC V CPUs (SPARC IV on Sun E2900)
- higher CPU speeds;
Against:
- (subjective) terra incognita, never worked w/ Fujitsu hardware before;
- no 1Gbps copper LAN built-in (will "eat" a 66MHz PCI slot);

Thank you in advance. I will summarize.

Best Regards,
Stoyan Genov

P.S. I hope this post is appropriate for the mailing list (FAQ 1.2.6).
      Apologies if it is not. --sdg
