Ingeritance of SUID bit?

I've got a small compile C program with the SUID (root) bit
set for it. This executable calls a shell script. On Solaris
8, it appears that the shell script gets called with the
ownerm abd permissions of the user that initial invoked
the SUID executbale.

This seems different than how i remeber this working on
Solaris 2.5. Has this changed, and is htere a way to change
this behavior? Or must I use sudo, or something similar to
acimplish what I need?
