Hi!
I am looking to implement SMTP-AUTH with Sendmail on Solaris 10.
However, it does appear that I'd have to compile a new version from
sendmail.org as well as SASL, since the Sun implementation doesn't have
saslauthd.
This whole thing seems to become a pain in the neck in addition to the
fact that I'd lose Sun support.
So I started looking around for any light-weight proxy type program that
could do the SMTP-AUTH portion for me and then let me talk to Sendmail.
I imagine I would install such a piece of software on my external mail
relay. I would prefer to be able to authenticate via passwd file, NIS or
LDAP rather than a special passwd database.
I haven't found anything that specifically caught my eye yet. Open
source would be preferable, but I am open to commercial software as well.
If you've solved this problem in the past or have ideas on how to do it,
I would like to hear what you have to say.
Thanks in advance!
-Alex
