Hello Sun Managers,
When using the automounter for multiple (hierarchical) mounts, e.g.
Modules -ro \
/ svr1,svr2:/fs00/s00/Modules/SunOS_5.11_sparc_all \
/share svr1,svr2:/fs00/s00/Modules/share
a mountpoint of / is assumed if you omit the first mountpoint.
For a single mount entry, e.g.
Modules -ro svr1,svr2:/fs00/s00/Modules
the man page does not specify a mountpoint:
key [ -mount-options ] location ...
however the automounter on Solaris (e.g. 8 and 9), seems to happily
accept it, i.e. this entry does work:
Modules -ro / svr1,svr2:/fs00/s00/Modules
While I would tend to not list the mountpoint /, I am curious if there
are technical arguments for or against it. Or reprhrased, by listing
the mount point for a simple map entry, does the automounter have to do
something different internally, or is the mountpoint simply ignored.
Cheers
