so i have 420Rs, each with two A5200 enclosures attached. i've cabled
them in the redundant daisy chain suggested in the documentation (6
GBICs/3 cables) and here's what's going on:
i set up one of the 420Rs and it's arrays from the beginning with
solaris 8 and disksuite 4.2.1. i can see all of the drives in the
arrays twice in format (once on each controller.) luxadm doesn
everything it's supposed to, i can probe and display and all of that
stuff. this is exactly what i want
i've been trying to duplicate this setup in our production environment
but luxadm just doesn't work... it can't find the enclosure and i can
run devfsadm until the cows come home and nothing shows up in /dev for
the enclosure. i didn't set that server up myself, and my predecessor
had some pretty unusual habits which i've only begun to unravel.
am i missing a package somewhere? they're at the same patchlevel, and
pkginfo -l says that luxadm is installed properly... as someone else
mentioned earlier, SUNWsan is MIA (and has been for a long time.)
