I have attached a LaCie Biggest F800 to the USB port of a SunBlade 1000
running Solaris 10 (I have also tried this using Solaris 9 with Patch
Cluster from July 5th and got exactly the same results).
I have the Lacie set for RAID0+1, which should yield ~800GB minus overhead (this
model has 4 x 400GB drives, and I have formatted it under, ahem, Windows XP Pro
out to 765GB).
---------
cfgadm sees the drive nicely:

If I try to use fmformat with a partition table of the size I want, it
slaps me down with:
# rmformat -b "sunos" -s /format.dat /dev/dsk/c3t0d0s2
Backup slice extends beyond size of media
media size : 509999490 sectors
---------
If I try to use newfs / mkfs, I get similar error msgs:
# mkfs -F ufs /dev/rdsk/c3t0d0s2 1400000000 63 255 8192 8192 -1 1 3 1048576 t 0 0 8 1024 y
mkfs: bad value for size: 1400000000 must be between 1024 and 509999490
mkfs: size reset to default 509999490
---------
If anyone has information on how to get more than 250GB out of this device, I
would very much appreciate hearing about it, and of course I will summarize
any responses.
