Goodday everyone,
I have a NIS+ root master and a NIS+ root replica. Each are on
different subnets.
Recently our root master server died. It was rebuilt thanks to help
from people on this list.
While the Root Master was unresponsie the clients did not fall back to
the replica for lookups, although I checked before and after the root
master failure and on all clients the root replica is listed as a
server, as shown by the /nisstat /command below. Nisrep is the replica
and nismas is the root master, and the domain is xx.gemini.edu.
On the root replica I can /niscat /and n/isaddent -d/ the passwd.org_dir
without any problem, but while the root master was down the command
//usr/lib/nis/ nisaddent -d passwd/ failed with an error - I have lost
the error message :(
Has anyone got any idea why the clients would fail to resolve from the
replica server?
