lo0 for virtual interface

Does anyone see any problems with using the loopback for a virtual
interface for apache load balancing ? I'm trying to avoid buying a
second NIC.

Can lo0:1 ... can safely be used for this ?

I'm using Linux LVS and keepalive for load balancing and now I need to
add Solaris 8 system to the cluster but I need to create a virtual
interface on the Solaris system. I need for the machine NOT to ARP it
out.
