how to verify dumps on remote tapes?

Managers:

Have a DLT 7000 on a remote Solaris 8 system. How to verify contents before
trying to restore?

Did a rewind and forward

mt -t /dev/rmt/0n fsf 1 (and verified different file systems /a, /b, /c,/d)

After 5 iterations of the same and restoring 20GB data, i get I/o error when i
ran mt -t /dev/rmt/0n fsf 1

Does that mean no further dumps are avvailable?The prticualr dump i am
looking is not seen and need to confirm it is not there on the tape.
