Ultra 1 memory not being recognised

I have an Ultra 1, see below for spec which will only recognise half the
memory available in any particular memory module. I have checked that the
memory is seated correctly, all the memory is of the same type and in pairs.
Has anyone seen this type of problem before? If not I can only assume it is a
hardware fault.

System Configuration: Sun Microsystems sun4u Sun Ultra 1 SBus (UltraSPARC
143MHz)
System clock frequency: 71 MHz
Memory size: 384 Megabytes
SunOS aeetes 5.9 Generic_118558-06 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-1
OBP 3.35.0 2004/04/19 12:15 POST 3.10.6 1996/10/18 10:19
Kington KTS-7001/128 memory
