Thanks to all who responded, and only one vacation message, too!

Ok, here's the deal:

It wasn't permissions on the homedir or in .dt anywhere.

There were no .x*, .X* or .st* files to speak of (just .Xauthority, which
was normal).

Also, I tried moving .dt and logging in. I got a brand new windows
session, but still the DT messaging service error.

Finally, Gary Chambers hit the nail on the head! My .TTauthority file in
my homedir was owned by root. I don't know how that happened.

Thanks, Gary!

Check the permissions of your .TTauthority file. If it's there, just blow it
away and try it again. Is your home directory automounted from a remote
system?

Gary Chambers
