Folks,

This is an itchy one!
(maybe, maybe not...)

Ok, I have this vintage Netra T1 (hostname obelix) running Solaris 9
(118558-06) which I have built as a jumpstart server for Solaris 10 x86
clients.
After spooling the install and boot images onto the Netra, I've done the
following:

1. updated /etc/hosts
2. updated /etc/ethers
3. "rules", class file and "sysidcfg"
4. re-enabled /etc/rc2.d/S71rpc and /etc/rc3.d/S15nfs.server startup script
5. ./add_install_client -c obelix:/export/install/config -p
obelix:/export/install/config -s obelix:/export/install/sol10x86 minivip
i86pc
6. echo "share -o ro,anon=0 /export/install/config" >> /etc/dfs/dfstab
7. re-enabled tftp in /etc/inetd.conf

Then rebooted the box.

Upon reboot, this is what is currently running on it:

obelix: ps -ef
     UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD

obelix:

I power on the client (minivip, Compaq DeskPro EN SFF P500 - and stop
laughing... - which can [and has been enabled to] boot from the NIC) on the
same subnet as the jumpstart server; I can see it waiting to get an IP
address for approx 60 seconds, then gives up and boot from HD.

Snooping on obelix, I can only see the following:

obelix: snoop
Using device /dev/hme (promiscuous mode)
OLD-BROADCAST -> BROADCAST DHCP/BOOTP DHCPDISCOVER
OLD-BROADCAST -> BROADCAST DHCP/BOOTP DHCPDISCOVER
OLD-BROADCAST -> BROADCAST DHCP/BOOTP DHCPDISCOVER
OLD-BROADCAST -> BROADCAST DHCP/BOOTP DHCPDISCOVER
OLD-BROADCAST -> BROADCAST DHCP/BOOTP DHCPDISCOVER
^Cobelix:

It seems that obelix is not responding to those DHCPDISCOVER requests (am I
right?)

Any idea anybody what I am missing here?

Thank you in advance & I will summarize
