High sys cpu time on second processor

Hello Sunmanagers. I'm trying to troubleshoot an odd problem.
Quite simply, on a solaris 8 420R, we've been noticing a high 'kernel'
system usage.
Consistently over 50%, on this 2cpu machine. Looking closer with mpstat,
_something_ seems to be occupying
cpu 2 all of the time, with 'system' usage.

eg.

CPU minf mjf xcal intr ithr csw icsw migr smtx srw syscl usr sys wt
idl
  1 0 0 75 464 322 511 156 1 22 0 63462 26 74 0

  2 0 0 49 28350 1016 1262 437 1 412 0 0 0 100 0

  2 0 0 16 30098 1213 510 175 0 167 0 0 0 100 0

It's consistent, and sustained. The machine has been rebooted, and as far
as I can tell 'obvious' culprits, such as NFS don't run on this machine.

Using sar to check paging, and iostat to look at disk IO, suggests that
there's basically nothing going on there, either.

bash-2.03# vmstat 5 5

(although there would appear to be a lot of interrupts for some reason)

Any suggestions as to how to find the source of all this kernel activity
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed Rolison
