JES Identity Server - amconfig problems

Hi,

I've been googling this and trying to find hints in forums on this
problem for over a week and I'm stumped. I hope someone has a
suggestion here, you guys have been great in the past :-)

When installing the Identity Server so I could use Messaging Server, I
selected to Configure Later. Now I am trying to run the amconfig file
but am getting errors.

First, I got the Web Server v6.1 SP2 installed successfully. I can
access the default page on port 80 and can login to the admin server
on port 8888. In the admin server, I linked it to the Directory Server
and can create and modify users/groups/etc and they show the changes
with ldapsearch as happening properly.

When I run the amconfig script, I select option 1, to do a full
configuration. I've filled in the settings as best as I can. However,
when it goes to configure things, it pops up the following messages:

Loading service schema XML files ...
Info 112: Entering ldapAuthenticate method!
Error 15: Cannot authenticate user.
Error 9: Operation failed: Error 15: Cannot authenticate user.
Error occured while loading: /etc/opt/SUNWam/config/ums/umsExisting.xml

I'm using a binddn of "cn=directory manager" and when using
ldapmodify, I can modify entries with that binddn and my password.
However, when using that binddn and my password in amconfig, it gives
me this error. Is there anywhere else I can look for more error
details? Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Am I looking in
the totally wrong place? I've typed the password in amconfig a million
times very carefully so I'm sure that's not the problem.

Also, if I try to fire up the web server, it tells me a bunch of error
messages, one of which is:

bash-2.05# ./start
Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP2 B04/07/2004 16:09
warning: CORE3283: stderr: java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't
find bundle for base name AMConfig, locale en

So, just for testing, I did a

chmod -R 777 /etc/opt/SUNWam

Now I can start the web server. It still gives me an warning of:

bash-2.05# ./start
Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP2 B04/07/2004 16:09
warning: CORE3283: stderr: 04/19/2005 04:27:46:811 PM PDT:

However, after all that, when I try to access
"http://myserver:80/amconsole", I get a web page where no graphics
load and a message appears saying

 Authentication Service is not initialized.
Contact your system administrator.

Any thoughts on where to go from here?

Thanks,
