Xsun doesn't start. Error loading module /dev/fb

I'm trying to start Xsun. When I run the /etc/init.d/dtlogin script it
doesn't come up. When I try it manually I get this:

# Xsun
/dev/fb: No such file or directory
/dev/fb: No such file or directory
Graphics Adapter device /dev/fb is of unknown type

Fatal server error:
InitOutput: Error loading module for /dev/fb

# ls /dev/fb
/dev/fb: No such file or directory
#

Notice that /dev/fb doesn't even exist! The system is a Sunfire V440
running solaris 2.8. thanks for any help.
