re - IP address resolution and ssh ldap

Hello All,

I have an interesting problem regarding ssh 3.9p1.

When I try and connect to a remote host I get the wrong IP address
returned for the server ( correct address as far as the machine is
concerned but the machine is NAT'd).

Using Sol 8 Generic_117350-22.

My local hosts file contains the IP host mapping I need to use.

Nsswitch.conf

hosts files ldap

ldap server returns both nat'd address and box address in that order.

Getent hosts host returns

Host file

Ldap nat'd IP

Box IP

Ssh does not seem to be using the hosts file and only taking the last ip
from ldap lookup.

This also happens with ping but not telnet.

I know that gethostbyname returns result by network so the order in
which they are returned makes sense, but the fact that the /etc/hosts
file seems to be ignored isn't.

Has anyone seen this or know what is causing it.

Thanks in advance

Jonathan Birchall
