Unused diskspace is unavailable on mirrored rootdisk with Veritas

Hello all!

I have not done a lot with veritas VolumeManager etc so far.
(SDS has been enough to mirror the Systemdisk up to now)

I have read the manuals and surfed around, but nothing could help me up to
now.

Probably, i had misread or read over a little information yet that could
help me. Or I have errors in reasoning.

THE PROBLEM:
All i did was installing Solaris9 on a FireV280 followed by mirroring the
internal disks with veritas.
(Therfore exists some nice "how to" on the internet, so thats not my
problem.)

My problem is to activate unused space (30GB) of the mirrored and
encapsulated systemdisk (rootdisk / rootdg) to mount this area on two new
mountpoints on the system (2 x 15 GB)!

Among other things I tried to create an new mirrored Volume with the
command:

bash-2.05# vxassist -b -g rootdg make test 15g layout=concat-mirror

And recieved this error-message:

vxvm:vxassist: ERROR: Cannot allocate space for 31457280 block volume

I thought veritas would allocate all space needed in this case, so the
unused area as well. But i could only create a smaller area (100MB). That
does not satisfy me ;-).

THE QUESTION:
How can i allocate the known free space to the rootdg? Or must i create a
new volumegroup or something similar to succeed?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and a summary will follow.

Thanks in advance

Alex Duile

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONS:
The partitions of the systemdisk looked like this before veritas takes
control:

Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
  0 root wm 3221 - 5233 9.77GB (2013/0/0) 20484288
  1 var wm 5234 - 6844 7.82GB (1611/0/0) 16393536
  2 backup wm 0 - 14086 68.35GB (14087/0/0) 143349312
  3 swap wu 1 - 3220 15.63GB (3221/0/0) 32776896
  4 unassigned wu 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
  5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
  6 unassigned wu 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
  7 unassigned wm 6854 - 14086 35.10GB (7233/0/0) 73603008

Slices 4-6 are reserved for veritas, each 10MB.

After activating veritas it looks a little bit different:

Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
  0 root wm 3221 - 5233 9.77GB (2013/0/0) 20484288
  1 var wm 5234 - 6844 7.82GB (1611/0/0) 16393536
  2 backup wm 0 - 14086 68.35GB (14087/0/0) 143349312
  3 swap wu 1 - 3220 15.62GB (3220/0/0) 32766720
  4 - wu 0 - 0 4.97MB (1/0/0) 10176
  5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
  6 - wu 1 - 14086 68.35GB (14086/0/0) 143339136
  7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0

The original Slice7 is my desired object. But the 35.10GB are not longer
reachable after veritas configuration?!?!

Installed Veritas Packages:
VRTSvxfs, VRTSfsdoc, VRTSvxvm, VRTSvmdoc, VRTSvmman, VRTSob, VRTSobgui,
VRTSvlic
