HP's jetadmin config software is no longer supported/available
to run on Solaris.
I have a version of Jetadmin on my Solaris 8 machine but the list
of printers that shows up when configuring a new print queue
is limited and does not include the newer HP laserjet printers.
Are the .cfg files the print drivers for solaris
located in /opt/hpnpl/admin/printers?
Is there a way I can update this directory with more cfg files for
the newer HP printers? Is it just a matter of obtaining the driver
for the specific printer I want to use and putting it in this
directory?
I also see on HP's site that Web Jetadmin is thier tool to setup
print queues but this only runs on Windows, Fedora and Suse.
It mentions "shared print queue creation support" for Solaris.
Does this mean that when running WebJetadmin from Windows you can tell
it to create a print queue on a Solaris print server?
I don't know why HP makes it so difficult to get their printers setup
with Solaris. The Lexmark tools for Solaris are much better and allow
me to easily setup virtual queues that point to specific trays on their
printers. Is this possible with HP printers and if so using what software?
