Locking an account after 3 failed login attempts

Hello Admins,

In Solaris 9, is there any way to lock an account

after 3 failed login attempts?

I used

# vi /etc/default/login

RETRIES=3

but this only stops a repeated telnet/login process after 3 failed attempts.

The account is not locked and the telnet/login process can be repeated for ever

without locking the account.

Any help will be appreciated.

TIA,

Marco
