dsgw function on Sun One Directory V5.2

Hello:

I have a Sun One Directory Server V5.2 running on a Solaris 9 system. While comparing to a V4 iPlanet setting, the iPlanet version has a dsgw directory. But I can not locate such directory on V5.2. I have Directory Server and Admin Server installed. Is dsgw a Proxy Server function? Should I installed Proxy Server on the Solaris 9 as well?
