Sun Hostid

Since OpenBoot 4.0, it is no longer possible to change the hosted of a Sun system by manipulating the NVRAM.

I have written a utility that allows you to dynamically change the hostid in the kernel - without needing to reboot.

It also allows you to change the platform name (as reported by `uname
-i') - so it will also work with Veritas disk manager.

Our licence server fell over, and the software vendor was on holiday - meaning that we couldn't get a new licence for our repoacement so I wrote this piece of software. It saved my butt, so I thought I'd share it.

You can grab a copy at http://www.buildmonkey.com/download/hostid.tar.gz.

Apologies for the wide alias.

Please note: This software is not to be used for piracy or other illegitimate use. By downloading and using it, you accept that you have the legitimate right to use the licence that you obtain through changing the hostid.

Thanks for listening,

John.
