Many thanks to
   David DEAVES & Anthony D'Atri
the probe-ide output says it's a CD drive
so there's no way it can read a DVD media:

My colleague pass it to me & told me it's
a DVD drive. I was testing the DVD media
(no indication on the Solaris 8 media that
 says it's a DVD media & I presume it's a
CD) on another Sun box & my PC both of
which have DVD drive.

Thanks
G Sun
