Hi,
I have a SunFire V120 which does not have any CD drive &
vold daemon is not running on it & vold wont start even if I
start it manually using 'nohup /usr/sbin/vold &'.
After I inserted a DVDROM (believe it's IDE) Model TEAC
CD-224E (Model ver -A92) bought from Sun, vold would
now start by itself after system reboot (or even manually).
however the DVD drive's LED green light blinks every 1 second
& I could not mount the DVD (which is a Solaris 8 media which
I've verified on another Sun machine to be a good media) drive
despite doing all the following :
# devfsadm
#
# volcheck -v &
346
#
# no media was found
#
#
# cd /dev/dsk
# ls -ld *s2

Did I install it wrongly which resulted in the DVD drive LED
kept blinking?
Thanks
