Hi you all!

(original message included below)

thanks for the wuick replies of
Jagtar Ghuman
Anthony D'Atri
Divyaprakash K.C.

They gave me some hints that i will summarise when i can solve definitely the
problem, by the moment i just got a workaround (but i guess not the
definitive solution):

in my CUPS clients i configured the pritners only as "Generic Postscript"
instead of using the specfic ppd, now the postscript and pdf files are
printed nicely... why is it working now? i just don't know.

Maybe there was a doble-filtering going on (first a filtering in the client
side and then again a filtering in the server side) or something like that, i
need to analyse the problem in more detail, more feedback from sun managers
would be very useful, after 'googling' for a while and looking at sunmanagers
archived posts, i couldn't find similar (at least apparently) problems.

Thanks! One of the greatest things of the net is the existence of lists like
this one, and the sharing of knowledge, both theoretical and practical, that
they promote!

Best Regards,
Pere Blay

Hi you all!

I've found a funny problem with my Solaris 10 Workstation, I've installed
solaris 10 in a SunBlade100 to replace an older PC with linux which was used
as printer server

I've got to configure nicely the two printers hanging on this server in the
new solaris 10 installation, thanks to the nice ppd files included now with
solaris 10, both printers work very nicely from the server, but when i send a
job from a remote machine, only garbage is printed, just like if the PS or
PDF files were translated into text and the plain text-like full of commands
and garbage file is printed, instead of the formatted one, the clients i've
tested are all linux machines, with CUPS used as printing system, and they
all use the same ppd files as the ones supplied with solaris 10...

has anyone found a similar problem? any hints about how to solve it?
Thanks a lot!
Pere Blay
