Encrypting Backups

I've been asked to look into the possibility of encrypting our backups
and was hoping someone here had done this before.

The goal is encrypt the stuff that goes on our tapes well enough that we
don't have to worry about losing one. I understand all the drawbacks
involved in encrypting backups, but it's something I've been asked to
research.

The only sure thing I've found so far is a Arkeia, otherwise I've been
having trouble finding anything on this topic. There is also the option
of encrypting only specific files, but I'm not certain how I'd work
that into our nightly backups as certain files can't be left encrypted.

Anyone here currently encrypting their backups? Anyone know of any
options that uses what's in a default Solaris install?

Thanks,
Chrs
