Hello Sunmanagers,
what is infact the largest size for a phyiscal disk. At the moment i'm not
able to Label LUN's greater than 2TB.
OS is Solaris 9. Machine for testing is at the moment a Ultra 30. All
relevant patches according to patch 114129-02 are incorporated.
If i run format -e i will get the following
Disk has a capacity of 6TB

Makes me wonder autoconfigure will fail.
If you try to do a configure by your own, which seems to be possible as head
and sectors now can go over 255. you also won't be able to label the disk.
FORMAT MENU:
disk - select a disk
type - select (define) a disk type
partition - select (define) a partition table
current - describe the current disk
format - format and analyze the disk
repair - repair a defective sector
label - write label to the disk
analyze - surface analysis
defect - defect list management
backup - search for backup labels
verify - read and display labels
save - save new disk/partition definitions
inquiry - show vendor, product and revision
scsi - independent SCSI mode selects
cache - enable, disable or query SCSI disk cache
volname - set 8-character volume name
!<cmd> - execute <cmd>, then return
quit
format> label
[0] SMI Label
[1] EFI Label
Specify Label type[0]: 1
Ready to label disk, continue? yes
The capacity of this LUN is too large.
Reconfigure this LUN so that it is < 2TB.

Did anybody achieve a LUN size larger than 2TB, according to SUN info docs
this should be possible. Or do ih ave to use Disksuite to concatenate a lot
of 2TB volumes. Going in production this will have 50TB for the beginning
100TZB in the end. SO working with 16TB LUN's would be a great thing. Using
Linux 2.6 Kernel (64bit using gpt/efi Labels)this works without a problem.
Does anybody have an idea for that ??
Any input will be greatly appreciated, i will summarize.
