unequal sized slices to store SDS metadb & can metadb reside on a newfs'ed/mounted slice?

Hi,

Below is my current Solaris 8 OS disk partition
(actually I've repartitioned slice 7 which holds
the empty /home directory to give up 25 cylinders
 to slice 3)

Looks like I have to use slice 3 & slice 7 to
store the metadb as other slices already have
data while slice 7 contains the empty /home.

Questions :

Is it OK that slice 3 & slice 7 are of unequal
sizes?

Slice 3 permissions must be made "wm", right?

Is there anyway I can utilize the space in
slice 7 rather leaving it unused? Say, suppose
I do "newfs" of slice 7 & mount it, can we still
store SDS metadb on it?

Thanks for any suggestions,
G Sun
