sd vs. ssd -- Apple X-Raid on Solaris

Dear all,

I recently accquired an Apple XRaid, and have installed it into a V240
running Solaris 9. It seems to have gone all right thus far, but I am
concerned that I had to edit both the "sd.conf" and "ssd.conf" in
order to detect the device.

The docuemntation supplied with the "LSI Logic Fibre Channel PCI-X"
card and the "LSI Logic Fibre Channel/SCSI Driver Utilities" indicate
that they are expecting to use the "ssd" driver.

However, in trying to enable the X-RAID LUNs, I had to edit sd.conf,
and as such I am worried.

Should Solaris require that you edit both "sd.conf" and "ssd.conf" in
order to enable extended LUN detection on an ssd device ???

The X-RAID's device links are linked to
"/devices/pci@1e,600000/IntraServer,fc@2,1/ssd@0,1", so I think that
it is allconfigured correctly, I am just slightly confused that I
needed to edit sd.conf as well as ssd.conf.

Cheers
kel.
