The failed disk info is "offline" in dmesg (but the disk is connected
and powered on):
Mar 2 19:21:20 fmri0 scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING:
/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3,1/sd@3,0 (sd18):
Mar 2 19:21:20 fmri0 offline
In format, ealier today I had:
7. c1t3d0 <IBM-DDYS-T36950M-S96H cyl 14970 alt 2 hd 12 sec 399>
/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3,1/sd@3,0
Now I have:
7. c1t3d0 <drive type unknown>
/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3,1/sd@3,0
Plus the disk is very hot and from its sound it is not normal.
Since it is 'offline' and shows up in format, is there a way to recover
data?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have 2 hard disks (73GB and 36GB) striped into about 104GB and mounted
as a single filesystem for non-system data storage. Now the 36GB disk is
dead, and I would like to know if I can still recover any data that is
on the 73GB disk.
There are data backups over network, but it is time consuming to restore
them.
Any ideas on possible data recovery? Thanks in advance.
