NFS stale file handles

Hi,
 
I am in the process of moving NFS server, because of which all the clients using automount & mounting from this NFS server get stale file handles. Can you suggest which is better way of unmouting those hanging automounts on client side. I know umount -f works in solaris 8 but sometimes if this does not help. Any other way ?
