Odd numbers of CPUs in v440s

Hello,

I have a v440 with a pair of 2x1.06GHz CPUs

Sun's on-line documentation indicates that one can add extra CPUs one
by one to this machine. ie I could go to 3 CPUs (not the usual
2->4->6->8 that you have to do with SPARC III CPUs).
 
Can anyone confirm this is a valid configuration or has this setup themselves?

The servers run Oracle, so CPU-count has a direct knock-on effect to
running costs.
