Cron after changing users primary group

Hi All,

I have a strange problem where I thought I knew the answer as to why it
wasn't working....

I have a user where I needed to change it's primary group. When I done
this on a test server it's cron jobs failed after I had changed the
group with the error message....

! bad user (user) or setgid failed (user) Sun Feb 13 03:00:00 2005

After some testing I updated the crontab file and tested it worked ok,
so re-applying the crontab seemed to have solved the problem.

I have done this on a couple of servers and it all worked ok.

However I have one server where it didn't work and I got the above error
message again. I checked that I had re-applied the crontab and did so
it's not human error !

The password for this user has not expired and I have since run another
test in cron which has worked.

Does anybody know why cron failed ?

I will summarise,

Colin.
