SUMMARY: Can't send any mail from Solaris 9 machine

Thanks to George for his reply this worked for me!

Try adding your mail relay host to submit.cf in the /etc/mail dir. And
make sure the mail relay host is defined in the /etc/hosts file. That is
how I got mine to work. Had the same error

I did what George suggested but did not need to add my mail host to
my /etc/hosts file but I did add it to my /etc/mail/submit.cf file.

Here is my original question

I have a solaris 9 new installed machine and I'm not able to send
mail out from it.
I just type
mail martini1@llnl.gov
message
.

and it never sends it although I see this error in the mqueue file
"Connection refused by 127.0.0.1

As far as I know sendmail does not need to be running on the machine
to send mail out, only to receive mail is that correct?
