Hi all,

am in the finishing stages of a project i started a bit more than a year
ago, am trying to document the proper (in my own opinion) way to
properly install add on software on the Solaris OS, add on meaning
apache, mysql, postgresql, bash, ssh, ssl, php, etc... anything i could
get my hands on, thats based on a gpl or semi glp license. i installed
most of these pieces of software, and fully documented the process, and
the pitfalls of doing it one way vs. another way.

With this being a list of admin who, after being a member for more than
4 years, i grew to respect your knowledge, i would like to know how you
prefer to install software on solaris. is it from sunfreeware, netbsd's
pkgsrc, openpkg, or from source code.

Since i know that this is a bit off the beaten path, i apologize and ask
that you redirect me to the best place i should post this question.

thank you in advance

steve rieger
