moving a boot drive

I've been told by Sun that on their i86pc systems you
cannot move a boot drive once it's installed. i.e. if
the drive was in c0t4d0 you cannot move it to c0t3d0.
It just won't boot.

I find this really hard to believe. I feel that if I
edit /etc/vfstab correctly (before the system is
moved) and perhaps reinstall the boot block after the
drive is moved (via a cdrom boot), it should work.
